Since integrating into Lundbeck in October 2019, Lu-SBP has supported commercial launch of Lundbeck's first biologic product (Vyepti) and advancement of a growing biologics pipeline in collaboration with our Copenhagen-based Process Science & Validation Team. The Lu-SBP team leads and supports the development of new product candidates from cell line development through commercial validation of Drug Substance and Drug Product manufacturing processes. SUMMARY:
Lundbeck Seattle Biopharmaceuticals (LuSBP) isseekinga highly motivated individual to join theUpstreamProcessDevelopment (UPD)teamas asummerintern,participatingin upstream process developmentfor biopharmaceutical products.The successful candidate willassist the upstream process development teammaintaining lab readiness,maintaining accurate freezer inventory logs,preparing media and solutions for cell culture,learningaseptic cell culture techniques,assisting withbioreactor operation (250 mL to 200 L),documenting activities in an electronic lab notebook and using in-process analyticalequipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Communicate and collaborate withUpstream ProcessDevelopment team members and other cross-functional areas (Downstream and Analytical Development).


  • Perform cell culture laboratory tasks related to thelab readiness,preparation/setup, operation, tear down and cleanup of Bioreactor runs and shake flask studies.


  • Measure samples on analytical equipment.


  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines at all times.


  • Assistinmaintenanceof lab equipment, cleaning, andordering lab supplies.


  • Recordexperimentaldatatimelyand accuratelyusing an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)


  • Analyzeand communicate results in written reports and group presentations.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:



  • Enrolled towards a BS or equivalent degree in the sciences(biology, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular & cellular biology,bioengineering, chemical engineering, etc.).


  • Completed introductory Biology and/or Chemistry coursework.


  • Attention to detail.


  • Lift/carry up to 40 pounds unassisted/assisted.


  • Weekend/holiday work may berequired.



PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:



  • Experience withaseptic techniqueswill be particularly valuable.


  • Some laboratory experience or basic understanding of laboratory principles and techniques.


  • Strong communicationand collaboration skills.


  • Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.


  • Proficiencywith various MS Office platforms including Word, Excel, Outlook,PowerPointand Teams.


  • Experience withelectronic lab notebooks (ELN),scripting,python,SQLand AI.


  • Experience withJMP statistical software



The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Washington, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $21-$26/ hour.Applications accepted on an ongoing basis.
