Position Overview


Primary Purpose of the Position
The Department of Music is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach courses in the area of strings, including both applied music and strings methods. Depending on departmental needs and the candidate's background, general education courses may also be assigned. Candidates must demonstrate strong teaching ability in string-related coursework and be prepared to create supportive learning environments that motivate students from diverse social identities and backgrounds.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Master's Degree or higher in Music or a related field, from an accredited institution.
  • Two or more years of experience in related field.

Varies depending upon schedule and need.
Department Required Skills
Candidate must demonstrate skills necessary to teach applied music to all string students (violin, viola, cello, and double bass). Candidate must also have appropriate experience to teach a strings method course for Music Education majors. Instruction is provided by faculty committed to teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and service toward the enhancement of the artistic and cultural life of the university and the greater community.

  • Doctorate Degree in Music or a related field.
  • Three years or more of teaching experience at the college level.
