Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Shipping & Materials Supervisor for our City of Industry, California location.

Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
* Supervision of Material Handlers assigned to manufacturing.
* Oversees the inventory control and reporting accuracy for the location
* Collaboratively partner with Planning team for the implementation, integrations, and execution of capacity
* Assists in planning and organizing activities of the material control department to best utilize personnel to achieve short and long-range goals.
* Analyze and evaluate inventory and supplier delivery problems and recommend solutions.
* Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
* Site Import Compliance Specialist and ensures all manufactured finished products and raw materials are effectively managed to meet all US government import laws and regulations.
* Provides vendors internal and external with information to ensure compliance to US laws.
* Assists in clearing shipments through US Customs by contacting appropriate local staff to obtain needed information.
* Provide guidance and oversee accurate preparation of export and shipping documentation for international shipments by personnel at location.
* Manages location's compliance with U.S. and foreign export regulations - including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, FTSR and other regulatory agencies.

Skills:
* Familiarity with manufacturing operations
* Ability to manage a team of hourly Material Specialist in Shipping and Raw Material Handling
* Strong interdepartmental communication and cooperation skills
* Understanding of planning, scheduling, and capacity management concepts
* Strong understanding of Microsoft Office and using MRP systems
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will have hourly non-exempt employees reporting directly to them.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in warehouse/shipping management and/or Production Control
  • Previous people manager experience required
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPIM (Certificate Production and Inventory Management) a plus
  • Previous experience in Aerospace manufacturing setting preferred
