Position Title: Senior Scientist
Length of Contract: 6 months Location/Site: 100 Research Dr Worcester, MA - 100% onsite What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position: 1. PhD or equivalent education with less then 4 yrs experience 2. Complex in vitro model development skills 3. Experience working with primary, diseased cells in a multi-cellular format 4. Experience with standard cell and molecular biological assays such as ELISA/MSD, qPCR, immunofluorescence staining, imaging, viability and cytotoxicity assays 5. Experience demonstrating therapeutic effects in cell-based systems Job description: Immunology has discovery efforts focused on the development of humanized complex in vitro models (CIVMs) to support our ongoing projects focused on Rheumatoid Arthritis. We are seeking a bench scientist with extensive in vitro skills who can develop, maintain and execute on quantitative endpoint assays for CIVMs such as organ-on-a-chip. The ideal candidate will thrive in a highly collaborative environment that includes cross-functional project teams and CIVM experts supporting other autoimmune diseases. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, collaboration and communication skills are critical. Key Responsibilities Include: * Routine culture and maintenance of cell lines and primary cell cultures in standard formats as well as in organ-on-a-chip format. Prior experience with these systems and with a variety of cell types including fibroblasts, endothelial cells and immune cells is highly desirable * Assessment of endpoints from CIVMs including qPCR, MSD, immunofluorescence, viability and cytotoxicity to evaluate therapeutic efficacy * In depth characterization of CIVMs including transcriptomics and proteomics to understand clinical translatability of the model * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including data analysis, record keeping in an electronic notebook and presentation of work at project team meetings Qualifications: Preference for PhD or equivalent education with less then 4 years of experience. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of experience, Master's Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience Experience working with primary, diseased cells in multi-cellular assay formats Experience with standard cell and molecular biological assays such as ELISA/MSD, qPCR, immunofluorescence staining, imaging, viability and cytotoxicity assays Experience demonstrating therapeutic effects in cell-based systems Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preference given to candidates with prior drug discovery/industry and CIVM experience | |
