Department Summary

UCLA Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement (SPCE) cultivates meaningful relationships with community organizations, schools, civic groups, and corporate partners to expand knowledge and understanding of competitive college admissions among talented students from a wide range of backgrounds.SPCE serves as a bridge between UCLA and communities across California, offering innovative, accessible programming for students and families. Through on-campus, off-campus, and virtual experiences, SPCE primarily engages 8th-12th grade students who have faced barriers to educational opportunity-including those who are first-generation college-bound, from low-income households, in foster care, living in rural areas, or attending under-resourced schools-while welcoming all students and families interested in learning more about UCLA and higher education.
Position Summary

Support and deliver impactful outreach programs and events that promote college access for K-14 students and families. This role manages event logistics, coordinates programming, analyzes outcomes, updates web content, and strengthens community partnerships. You'll also train and supervise student staff to lead workshops and represent UCLA.

Ideal candidates are organized, adaptable, and passionate about student engagement, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and local travel.


Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • Event Planning Two (2) years event planning experience. (Required)
  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity gender identity sexual orientation, and socio- economic status. (Required)
  • Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member, and to follow through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment with conflicting demands and prioritize work accordingly. (Required)
  • Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.) admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedure to youth, parents and school representatives. (Required)
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school administrators, school counselors, principals, and community contacts. (Required)
  • Skill in listening perceptively and conveying understanding, establishing rapport, gaining trust, and motivating others. (Required)
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to prepare written or verbal summaries and reports. (Required)
  • Some evening and weekend work required. (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. (Required)
  • Two (2) years event planning experience. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience with supporting educationally disadvantaged youth regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. (Required)
  • Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)
