Job Summary:

The VP, Algorithm - AI is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of advanced algorithm capabilities across Masimo's product portfolio, with a focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and signal processing. This role provides functional leadership for algorithm development to drive innovation and clinical impact. The VP will lead a team of algorithm engineers, shape the technical roadmap, and ensure alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and next-generation product development.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing algorithm engineering team, including AI and machine learning capabilities
  • Define and execute the strategy and roadmap for AI-driven algorithm development aligned with product, business, and customer needs
  • Drive innovation in machine learning, signal processing, and modeling to advance Masimo's monitoring technologies
  • Oversee the design, development, validation, and implementation of algorithms supporting product performance and clinical utility
  • Partner cross-functionally with Software Engineering, Product Development, Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality teams to deliver integrated, compliant solutions
  • Establish best practices, frameworks, and standards for AI/ML and algorithm development, including validation and lifecycle management in regulated environments
  • Ensure alignment of algorithm development with regulatory expectations, including FDA and global compliance standards for AI-enabled technologies
  • Translate complex technical and AI-driven concepts into clear business and clinical impact for stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, infrastructure, and methodologies supporting algorithm and AI development (e.g., model development workflows, data pipelines, governance)
  • Align team priorities, resources, and deliverables to meet organizational goals and product timelines
  • Provide leadership on complex, ambiguous technical challenges requiring deep expertise in AI, algorithm development, and product application
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in algorithm development, data science, AI/ML, signal processing, or related engineering fields

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams

  • Deep expertise in machine learning, algorithm development, signal processing, and/or modeling

  • Experience applying AI/ML and advanced algorithms in regulated environments, ideally within medical devices or healthcare

  • Experience with data analysis, model development, and validation methodologies

  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute technical strategy

  • Strong experience working cross-functionally with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, and Product Development teams

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex concepts clearly

  • Ability to work onsite Monday - Friday in Irvine, CA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical device technologies, noninvasive monitoring, or physiological signal interpretation

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • Track record of innovation, including publications, patents, or industry recognition in AI or algorithm development

  • Experience building and scaling AI/ML capabilities, tools, and infrastructure

  • Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Language requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, schematics, and written instructions
  • Ability to clearly document technical findings and communicate with cross-functional team members

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $254,000 - $320k plus benefits. Actual placement within this range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 30% annual bonus based on company, department, and individual performance.

Physical requirements/Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office environment and requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Daily use of a computer and other digital devices is required. This role may require standing for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking through facilities.
