THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive engineering, technical, and administrative support within the Pavement Design Unit. The role ensures that all projects, activities, and daily operations meet established quality standards and align with departmental objectives. The incumbent applies advanced engineering principles, sound judgment, and industry best practices to assess project needs, resolve complex technical issues, and guide the successful completion of assigned tasks. The position also contributes to the development, review, and improvement of pavement design processes while supporting coordination with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to promote consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across all unit functions.

  • Provide engineering, technical, and administrative support for all Pavement Design Unit activities.
  • Ensure projects and operations meet established quality standards and departmental goals.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles and professional judgment to evaluate project requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Guide the successful completion of assigned work through effective planning, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of pavement design procedures and methodologies.
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to maintain consistency and accuracy across unit functions.
  • Strengthen the overall quality and reliability of the department's pavement design program through effective collaboration and process improvement.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Shift start and end times will be negotiable.
  • This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
