Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not sponsor Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of the test. Pursuant to subdivision 4a of Sec. 23 of the Civil Service Law, preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months preceding the date of the written test.

This is a provisional appointment. Selected candidate will need to sit, pass and be eligible on the next available Rensselaer County Civil Service Exam for Stores Clerk in order to be considered for permanent appointment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or possession of a High School Equivalency [OR] at least two (2) years of experience as a Mail and Supply Clerk or Stores Clerk. Possession of a valid New York State driver's license is required before appointment begins.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Stores Clerk/Inventory will report to the Coordinator of IIT Operations and/or their designee and will perform the following duties:
* Receives, sorts, distributes, issues and keeps records of incoming and outgoing mail, packages, supplies and equipment.
* Processes and keeps records of automotive equipment including but not limited to fuel consumption and mileage.
* Operates automotive equipment for the pick-up and delivery of supplies, inter-office mail, equipment, and other materials.
* Processes outgoing mail and packages including but not limited to the operation of postage metering equipment, computation of rates for special mailing and maintenance of records of postage used.
* Performs storeroom duties including but not limited to stocking shelves, filling requisitions, tracking incoming and outgoing equipment, and maintenance of computerized inventory and usage records.
* Assists in the assigning of control numbers, distribution, and disposal of inventory including but not limited to maintaining records of stores on hand and preparation of requisitions for replenishment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time 12-month, 40-hour work week position with an hourly rate of $19.25. Start date is immediate.
