Position Summary Under direct supervision and instruction, provides direct patient observation on the unit providing comfort measures for patients through one-on-one interaction. When not assigned to sit with/directly observe a patient, Unit Assistants will perform routine tasks on the unit. Assist members of the nursing team in preparation for patient admissions, transfers, & discharges. Assists and performs direct patient observation as needed. Schedule:
- Minimum 8 hours per week worked.
- Shift length: 4, 8, or 12 hours shifts available.
- Start times: 0700, 1100, 1500, 1900, 2300, 0300 available
PositionResponsibilities:
- Direct, one on one patient observation as delegated by the care team
- Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions
- Completesminimal Epic documentation in assigned patient's chart
- Assists with moving & loading supplies for patient rooms
- Assists in the setup and tear down of patient rooms
- Run errands as needed for the unit
- Assists with the routine cleaning
- Assists with patient admission, transfers, & discharges
- Transport non monitored patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies
- Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies, and cleanliness of unit
- May assemble equipment and supplies in preparations for various diagnostic procedures/treatments performed by physicians or nurses.
- Cleans patient units, operating rooms, and exam rooms, dependent on the area of assignment
- Stock and supply patient rooms and nursing units
- Greets patients and visitors and helps to locate room assignments
- Answer the telephone and relay messages

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
