ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.
- Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.
- Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.
- Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.
- Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
- Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.
- Practices aseptic technique as necessary,
- Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.
- Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
- Provides patient education.
- Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.
- Provides practical instruction for students and partners.
- Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.
- Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
- Other duties, tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited radiography program Two to four years of experience as a technologist as a Radiographer is required. Experience in a hospital environment preferred CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE ARRT registered in Radiography required; the CT credential is required within two years of hire IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin BLS/CPR required within 90 days of hire OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience in working with radiologic technologists, radiologists and support staff in a multimodality department
- Proficiency in mentoring employees and providing corrective action appropriately
- Experience in obtaining departmental accreditation
- Ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner
- Demonstrated ability to foster excellent teamwork in a radiology department
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently
- Read/comprehend written and verbal instructions
- Basic PC skills
- Manage stress appropriately
- Make decisions under pressure and handle multiple priorities
- Manage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately
LEVEL OF SUPERVISION Works independently, with limited direct supervision. PAY RANGE:
$35.85 - $53.77
