Innovation Intern

Summary

PlayCore is looking for an intern to work within our Innovation and Research teams to develop ideas and designs toward the ideal of radical inclusiveness in childhood play environments. PlayCore is committed to being a trusted resource to help park and recreation agencies turn research into practice to positively impact play and recreation initiatives. The PlayCore Innovation team advances the industry through new product design that considers inclusivity, sustainability, cost, and user experience. As part of PlayCore's Center for Outreach, Research & Education (CORE), the Research Institute supports the generation and dissemination of knowledge across the research lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Further develop and evaluate 3D printed tactile maps to enhance the user experience and to optimize commercial potential.
2. Research and develop additional ideas (self-developed or provided by the aforementioned team of professionals) to ensure full access to play for all.
3. Assist in identifying, synthesizing, and translating existing research on topics related to inclusion in parks, playgrounds, and outdoor recreation.
4. Assist with new research studies including study design, data collection, data analysis, and/or dissemination.
5. Collaborate with other interns (e.g., data team, research intern) as needed.
6. Meet regularly (at least weekly) with team members in virtual formats (with the possibility of face-to-face meetings) to share progress and collaborate.
7. Travel to Auburn University at the conclusion of the internship to present the work completed throughout the internship.
8. Additional responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Currently enrolled junior/senior in an undergraduate accredited college/university degree program majoring in Industrial Design, Business or related field required.
• Ability to work for 30 hours a week.
