The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Malvern, PA

Shift: Monday - Friday

Hourly pay range: $23 - $25

What we're looking for

Education:

  • High school diploma / GED required

  • Associate degree in chemistry, biology, life sciences, or related scientific discipline; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of laboratory support experience in a regulated pharmaceutical, biotech, research, or scientific environment.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, non routine laboratory support activities with limited supervision.

  • Experience supporting customer facing laboratory operations strongly preferred.

  • Formal training in laboratory safety, GLP/GxP, and regulated laboratory practices required.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of laboratory operations, equipment, and compliance requirements.

  • Ability to apply sound judgment when resolving complex support challenges within procedural frameworks.

  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and attention to detail skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across technical and non technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple workstreams, and meet deadlines independently.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business systems.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Previous experience in a GMP-regulated facility strongly desired

  • Strong communication skills

Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

The Bio Reactor Technician provides advanced, onsite laboratory support services at customer facilities and serves as a primary point of contact for bioreactor operations and regulated laboratory support activities.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient in bioreactor systems, and comfortable operating with minimal supervision in a regulated laboratory setting while maintaining strong collaboration with scientists and laboratory stakeholders.

  • Execute and adapt SOP driven laboratory and bioreactor workflows to ensure operational continuity.

  • Prepare laboratories and bioreactor systems by coordinating equipment checks, materials, and workspace readiness.

  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve non routine bioreactor and lab support issues within defined guidelines.

  • Assemble, maintain, and repair bioreactor systems, including:

    • Bioreactors and bubble bottles

    • Probe calibration and membrane replacement

    • Component rebuilds and repairs

  • Manage inventory of bioreactor components and pre assembled tubing to improve efficiency.

  • Coordinate with glass wash teams for autoclave scheduling and delivery of sterilized reactors.

  • Manage scheduling, prioritization, and documentation using SharePoint and related systems.

  • Coordinate bioreactor build and maintenance schedules with scientists and lab stakeholders.

  • Track, maintain, and report metrics for all bioreactors assembled and serviced.

  • Participate in weekly bioreactor planning meetings to align with operational priorities and capacity planning.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
