Position Overview

Securian Financial is looking for an Engineering Manager passionate about technology solutions and developing associates to deliver outcomes as part of our Employee Benefits Solutions Technology (EBST) team. This leader will focus on the people, process and technology being delivered by our product agile teams, specifically leading our Atlas team that is developing a new Claims solution for Voluntary Benefits and is aligned to enabling the EBS Bold Stroke.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead, recruit, motivate, champion, and develop engineering associates, maximizing their individual contributions, professional growth, and ability to build/sustain a team culture of efficiency and quality across an agile software development team

  • Partner with a matrixed leadership team (including Product Owners and fellow Leaders of People) in an agile development environment to promote engineering best practices ensuring our solutions are designed & engineered to operate safely, securely, and effectively in the delivery of business outcomes

  • Build and leverage relationships with internal partners and stakeholders across ET, EBST, EBS, and Operations teams

  • Evaluate technology options and promote solutions that align with operating principles

  • Awareness of current industry trends and new technologies; desire and willingness to continuously improve skills and knowledge through internal and external continuous learning

Qualifications:

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, leading and/or work directing others, while supporting engineering skill developmentand continuous improvement aligned with the software development life cycle and agile delivery model

  • Familiarity with Engineering best practices, including DevOps and Cloud best practices.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to connect and engage delivery teams as well as negotiate with business and technology leaders.

  • Strong relationship management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and leading others through change.

  • Agile delivery experience.

  • Creative problem solving.

  • Results oriented mindset.

  • Technical aptitude to understand and help determine technical solutions and integrations.

  • Demonstrate a solution-oriented approach and willingness to resolve or elevate issues quickly

Preferred qualifications

  • 1+ years' experience as a leader of people, or indirect people leadership equivalent

  • Experience with insurance products or employee benefits programs a plus.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$110,200.00 - $203,500.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
