SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, and within established policies and procedures,
the Post-Doctoral Research Associate conducts laboratory-based brain tumor research within the
Department of Neurosurgery at Brown University Health. This position integrates advanced experimental
and computational approaches, including multi-omics and epigenetic data analysis, and quantitative
analysis of human and patient-derived cells, tissues, and imaging datasets. The role also involves
evaluating responses to therapeutic interventions such as drug and radiation treatments.
Key responsibilities include conducting statistical and transcriptomic analyses, developing stochastic and
mechanistic simulation models, performing computational image analysis, and applying machine learning
approaches to biomedical data. The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will prepare scientific figures,
technical reports, and manuscripts for publication and presentation, and will contribute to grant applications
and funded research initiatives. This position is critical to advancing the laboratory's scientific mission and
sustaining competitive research programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Conduct laboratory research using human and patient-derived cell cultures to support neuroscience
and brain tumor studies.
* Design and execute cell-based assays-such as live-cell microscopy, proliferation assays, and
migration assays-to generate robust quantitative research data.
* Perform molecular analyses, including immunostaining, Western blotting, and RNA sequencing
workflows.
Computational and Data Analysis
* Apply statistical, computational, and bioinformatic methods to analyze experimental and clinical
datasets, including gene expression and treatment response data.
* Perform computational imaging analysis of tumor and cellular behavior.
Research Development and Support
* Assist Principal Investigator in the design and implementation of experimental and computational
protocols aligned with funded research objectives.
* Manage laboratory reagents, biomaterials, and experimental substrates to ensure research readiness
and continuity.
* Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, presentation, publication and grant
application. If desired, the Post-Doctoral Research Associate may have an opportunity to pursue grants as
Principal Investigator.
* Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative research initiatives within Neurosurgery and
affiliated academic programs.
* Contribute to project coordination and management, including tracking milestones, timelines, and
deliverables across studies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in:
* Biology
* Biophysics
* Biomedical Engineering
* Bioinformatics
* Statistics
* Or a related field
No specific licensure or certification is required
EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant research experience in a biomedical or related
laboratory environment. This experience may include undergraduate or graduate research training.
Required experience includes:
* Mammalian cell culture techniques
* Molecular biology or imaging assays
* Bioinformatic and statistical data analysis
Candidates must demonstrate:
* Ability to design and execute experimental and computational protocols independently
* Strong research documentation and organizational skills
* Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
* Basic programming, computational, or statistical skills
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Strong background in brain oncology research and drug discovery
* Experience in project management, including planning, prioritization, and coordination of multicomponent
research projects
* Proven track record in grant writing or application development, including fellowships or multi-investigator
proposals
* Demonstrated experience in high-throughput screening platforms
* Prior experience in collaboration with pharmaceutical industry or biotechnology company
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not include formal supervisory responsibilities. The Post-Doctoral Research Associate
works under the direction of the Principal Investigator and may provide informal training and guidance to
students, trainees, or new laboratory members as needed.

Pay Range:

$58,489.60-$96,491.20
