Project Accountant Essential Functions:
- Perform all accounting functions related to the service department, including small jobs, service agreements, and service calls.
- Initial project set up, including contract value, change order log, budget POs, labor estimates in labor tracking system, and billing schedules. Maintain same throughout project duration.
- Determine billing, change order, job close-out and other accounting requirements, working directly with customers as needed.
- Prepare and submit monthly invoices, including waivers, man hours reporting, change order pricing, certified payroll, etc. for all assigned projects.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships to ensure we are meeting expectations.
- Monitor project costs and transfer costs (including labor, tools, etc.) between projects, as necessary.
- Ensure that accounts receivables are current on all assigned projects.
- Manage subcontracts, subcontract amendments, maintain current subcontract values, input invoices into Purchase Order Status and resolve any billing or subcontract discrepancies.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with all required documentation, including certified payroll reports and waivers, as applicable.
- Work closely with Project Managers to review and approve or resolve subcontractor and vendor invoices on all assigned projects.
- Work as a team with Project Managers to review job progress and produce forecasts during monthly project status reviews.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in accounting or related technical field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of Project Accounting experience preferred
- Experience in construction / service industry preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
- Excellent ability to analyze and resolve difficult issues
- Proficient computer skills with intermediate to expert level ability in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista accounting software and/or BuildOps service platform preferred
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Flexibility and a desire to learn
