WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

Responsible to instruct Trainer Academies in assigned specialty area or to provide observance of offsite training programs; mentor instructors and ensure compliance with applicable guidelines. Deliver corporate classes to community groups at corporate facilities and/or at community or corporate sites. Provide high quality instruction per program guidelines, provide necessary information/reports in a timely manner and properly maintain equipment in their possession. Provide instructional and curricula guidance to instructors. Primary instructor for major strategic clients. Serve as team lead. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

1: Teach Instructor Trainer academies as designed in the assigned specialty area for the American Red Cross only when approved and directed by Training Services. Teach ARC courses within current certifications to businesses and to the community where applicable. Achieve instructional authorization for applicable program levels.
2: Manage all equipment and inventory as applicable. This may include the transport, unload and set-up of necessary materials and supplies needed to teach class. At conclusion of class, is responsible to clean equipment, report maintenance issues and return to prescribed location as applicable. Coordinate with co-instructor in preparation for academy. Prepare and distribute pre-class assignments for course participants and post-course reporting appropriately and within the defined timelines. Prepare and submit electronic and hard copy paperwork from the course.
3: Coordinate with host site management to ensure equipment is available safe and ITE knows how it works.
4: Evaluate and communicate IT Candidate performance and progress throughout the course.
5: Set up and tear down classroom space each day. Ensure all materials borrowed from the hostsite have been returned.
6: Participate in regular meetings (typically conference calls), to receive updates andprovide input on academies.In-service training or engagement opportunities will be offeredoccasionally.
7: Serve as part of a team of Instructor Trainer Educators that will provide constructivefeedback and support to improve program quality.
8: Serve as a role model for other instructors acting as an ambassador for excellence intraining in the specialty area.
9: Assist with quality assurance activities, if available. This may involve in-person, onlineand/or "remote" activity.
10: Assist in instructor and instructor trainer engagement activities if needed and oravailable. This may involve in-person, online and/or "remote" activity.
11: Assist in instructor and aquatic examiner service activities as assigned by ServiceDelivery Leadership.
12: Commitment to teach a minimum of 2 academies per month.

Scope: Considerable knowledge of job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of general and detailed aspects of the job. Contact with individuals representing other departments and/or representing outside organizations.

PAY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $23.00- $25.00 an hour. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Current certification as an Instructor Trainer in good standing with a minimum of five years' experience teaching multiple instructor courses. Recent (within one year) teaching experience in instructor-level courses and recent (within three years) basic-level classes of the specialty area. Minimum one year related experience required. Related experience includes education, adult training or service industry.

Skills and Abilities:

Willingness and ability to travel to teach academies.

Have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills, as well as stronginterpersonal skills.

Ability to solve problems in difficult situations and with a variety of customers.

Ability to demonstrate, evaluate and remediate specialty area skills to the Red Cross standard.
Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter, including Red Cross materials and programpolicies as it relates to the specialty area.

Ability to perform all administrative duties required by the specialty area, including blended learning, online course delivery, and electronic course record entry, as well as the flexibility to transition to alternative tasks when not teaching academies.

Have experience with technology - ability to communicate via email, use web-based systems,and Microsoft PowerPoint

Travel: Willingness and ability to travel 75% or more and work extended hours, including long and variable workdays, as required.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to use fingers to grasp, move and manipulate small objects. The employee must use the stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, get in and out of pools multiple times during the course of a training, carry equipment variable distances to get it in and out of pool facility.. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand and understand the speech of another person. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE: (Preferred Qualifications)

• Current basic-level certification in specialty area. (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuersor equivalent)
• Work experience in the industry of the specialty area, i.e., waterpark supervisor, aquaticdirector, waterfront camp supervisor, swim lesson programmer, EMT, etc. preferred.
• Basic-level certification in the specialty area of the Instructor Trainer Educator.
• Evidence of speaking or teaching experience in adult education environment.
• Evidence of excellence in teaching, including specialty area and/or specialty area-specificindustry work experience
