Academic Outpatient Psychiatrist, Integrated and Specialty Care - Assistant Professor

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist, including candidates with dual training in family or internal medicine and psychiatry, to join our expanding ambulatory psychiatry practice. This position offers the opportunity to practice in innovative models of integrated behavioral health within primary care and specialty medical and surgical clinics across the Froedtert & MCW health network.

This faculty position combines clinical care, teaching, and opportunities for programmatic development, supporting MCW's mission of advancing mental health care through interdisciplinary collaboration and academic excellence.

Position Highlights: Clinical Responsibilities:

The psychiatrist will provide outpatient psychiatric care in integrated clinical settings, working closely with primary care physicians and medical or surgical subspecialists. Clinical activities may include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment of adults in ambulatory settings

  • Participation in collaborative care models embedded within primary care practices, working closely with our integrated behavioral health care managers

  • Providing psychiatric consultation and treatment within specialty clinics, which may include:

    • Transplant programs (kidney, liver, lung, and heart)

    • Neurology (e.g., epilepsy, movement disorders)

    • Cardiology

    • Gastroenterology

    • Infectious disease

    • Other medical or surgical specialty clinics

  • Management of psychiatric conditions in patients with complex medical and surgical comorbidity

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams, including psychologists, social workers, care managers, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, and physicians of various specialties

  • Participation in innovative care delivery models designed to improve access to behavioral health services and integration with medical care

Academic Responsibilities:

Faculty members in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine contribute to MCW's tripartite mission of clinical care, education, and research. Responsibilities may include:

  • Teaching and clinical supervision of psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students

  • Participation in didactic teaching, case conferences, and interdisciplinary educational activities

  • Opportunities for scholarly work, quality improvement, and program development in integrated behavioral health

  • Collaboration with colleagues across the Froedtert & MCW system to advance innovative clinical programs

Qualifications
  • Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent)from an accredited institution.

  • Board certification or board eligible Psychiatry

  • State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.

  • Demonstrated interest in ambulatory psychiatry and interdisciplinary care

  • Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful finalist.
