Pediatric Emergency Medicine Faculty - Assistant Professor

The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Children's Wisconsin (CW) seeks a board certified/board eligible physician to join our Pediatric Emergency Medicine Section.Our successful funding for research, education and quality work has allowed us to expand our section. We are also excited to have moved into a new ED space in October 2023. This position is being recruited at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank.

About Pediatric Emergency Medicine

We are an energetic group of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physicians who are strongly committed to clinical care, research, advocacy, and teaching. We seek faculty with a strong commitment to further strengthen our work in these missions. Protected time for academic pursuits and resources to support scholarly activities are available.

Our nationally recognized ED has approximately 78,000 annual visits. Our section, which includes 31 faculty and 18 Advanced Practice Providers, participates in the training of residents in pediatrics, emergency medicine, and family medicine, and we have an active competitive ACGME accredited PEM fellowship. Clinical investigation is a priority, with excellent resources including a staff of clinical research assistants/coordinators. Areas of scholarly focus include pain management, concussion assessment and treatment, sickle cell disease, pre-hospital care, adolescent issues (including mental and behavioral health) and interpersonal violence, among others. We are a founding site in the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) and have successfully initiated past and ongoing trials through the network. Members of our section lead education and quality improvement efforts across the campus.

Children's Wisconsin and Children's Specialty Group

Children's Wisconsin is the state's only independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. With more than 1.3 million annual connections with kids and families statewide, Children's provides a wide range of care and support - everything from routine care to lifesaving advances and treatment options, foster care and adoption services, child advocacy, and provides an insurance plan.

Children's and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin - the Children's Specialty Group (CSG) - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Children's Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, 72-bed Level IV NICU, Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU. In 2023 - 2024, CW and CSG had four specialties ranked byUS News & World Report: cancer; gastroenterology and GI surgery; nephrology andhas over 70 specialties and 675 providers. In addition, there are over 78,000 emergency department/trauma center visits and over 9,000 admissions.

Qualifications

Candidates should be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Rank upon appointment will be commensurate with experience.
