| Position Summary |
The Business Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing several of the educational programs within the Department, and also independently serves as the program administer for all aspects of the Office of Medical Student Research (
OMSR). This position manages a broad scope of work operations and processes to meet the expectations and outcomes of the fellowship, division, and the
OMSR. This includes managing data in various systems and completion of annual reports for the fellowship program and the
OSMR that are required to maintain accreditation or funding (
OSMR).
The Business Services Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the GI fellowship subspecialty training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (
ACGME). The Student Services Specialist assists the Education Program Manager and the Program Director in developing and maintaining the educational quality of the training program and ensuring compliance with
ACGME accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements.
The Business Services Coordinator functions as a facilitator and liaison between the Education Program Manager, Program Director, fellows,
GME Office, participating sites, and other programs/departments, as well as (to a lesser extent) residents, visiting scholars, researchers, and shadow visitors. The Student Services Specialist ensures
GME and departmental policies and procedures are enforced and that the program remains compliant with national standards.
The Business Services Coordinator also plays a critical role in the fellowship selection process, especially with regard to the interview process. This position will also assist in the management of annual rotation, clinic and call schedules for trainees.
This role requires the ability to independently prioritize workloads to meet program needs and develop internal processes to ensure all deadlines are met. Prioritization is necessary as there are particularly busy seasons for the fellowship and
CMSRP programs, and managing communication and tasks (such as during recruitment) is extremely important.
The Business Services Coordinator functions as a team member in interactions with learners, staff, and faculty from other departments, and also serves as mentor to current fellows and fellow applicants by assisting them with completing a myriad of requirements during the admission process and throughout their years as a fellow. This necessitates the ability to analyze frequently-updated policies and information, applying technical expertise and guidance while navigating the fellows through these checkpoints. |
