Data Center Operations Technician I - Sterling, VA Location: Sterling, Virginia Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday (with potential shift adjustments) We are seeking a Data Center Operations Technician I to support growing data center operations in the Sterling, VA area. This role is ideal for candidates with strong hardware troubleshooting skills, a passion for handson technical work, and the ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment. About the Role The Data Center Operations Technician I provides technical support across a variety of hardware and network issues. This position focuses heavily on break/fix repair, safety compliance, and supporting operational stability within the data center. You will work under immediate supervision and follow established procedures, making this a strong opportunity for earlycareer technicians looking to grow. Top Skills - Must Haves * Hardware repair * Break/fix troubleshooting * Computer repair Key Responsibilities 1. Safety & Compliance * Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and emergency procedures * Handle power tools, sharpedged components, and sensitive equipment safely * Adhere to media handling and data protection guidelines 2. Hardware Troubleshooting & Repair * Diagnose and repair server hardware and firmware issues * Replace components such as: * Motherboards * CPUs * Power supplies (PSUs) * NICs * Memory modules * Test and troubleshoot fiber optic cables * Perform systematic isolation testing to identify points of failure 3. Network Knowledge * Understand networking fundamentals and data center network architecture * Support TopofRack (TOR) switch troubleshooting * Respond to networkrelated incidents, including rack downs * Experience with Linux or networking concepts is a strong plus Secondary Skills - Nice to Have * Data center operations experience * Rack and stack * Cat5/Cat6 cabling * Hardware diagnostics * Data center maintenance General Technical Support Duties * Respond to support requests via phone, email, and inperson * Identify, research, and resolve technical issues * Document and track all work to ensure timely resolution * Follow preestablished guidelines and procedures * Work under immediate supervision and escalate when needed Basic Qualifications * 0-3 years of experience in IT support, data center operations, or related field * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities * Basic understanding of computer hardware and networking * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined or elevated spaces * Valid driver's license and reliable transportation * Ability to pass a back-ground check * Some travel may be required Preferred Qualifications * Knowledge of Linux operating systems * Advanced hardware troubleshooting experience What We Offer * Opportunity for extension and potential conversion * Handson experience in a growing data center environment * Exposure to new projects and expanding operational needs Why This Role Is Open Due to increased workload and new project initiatives, the team is expanding and seeking additional Data Center Operations Technicians to support ongoing operations in Sterling, VA.
