THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Aging Services Specialist, you will support the operations of the ADRD Office by providing professional and administrative support and coordination to the ADRD Advisory Committee, ADRD Office Director, and Office Supervisor. These offices and teams are responsible for Pennsylvania's statewide plan to improve services and resources for individuals and families affected by ADRD and for collaborating with other state offices, local agencies, and community organizations. Your work will involve participating in the drafting, implementation, and evaluation of the Alzheimer's State Plan as well as preparing comprehensive reports, delivering formal presentations, and chairing or conducting meetings. This includes gathering feedback from stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of programs and services, tracking progress to ensure key milestones are met and alignment with federal and state regulations, and making recommendations regarding the direction of advocacy and project efforts.

You will regularly travel within the Commonwealth to conduct site visits, attend meetings, provide technical assistance, deliver training, and represent the ADRD Office at conferences, community events, and stakeholder engagements. This is key for effectively engaging with public health efforts and healthy aging activities on ways to support individuals with dementia and caregivers, as well as collaborating with with local agencies, community-based organizations, and healthcare providers to ensure successful program implementation. Work also involves collaboratively identifying and securing grant funding opportunities to support our office's mission, vision, and statutory responsibilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in a human services program conducting human services related research or providing social services to clients, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training..
