The Collegiate Game Jam Graduate Assistant will join the Learning Spaces and Services team within NC State University Libraries. This position serves as a member of the core planning team for the 2026 NC State Collegiate Game Jam and supports related game design events, workshops, and community programming throughout the year.
This role is centered on planning, coordination, and participant experience. The assistant will help organize a large, interdisciplinary campus event while also contributing to smaller programs that support game development, design, and creative technology communities at NC State.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with participant recruitment, registration, and participant communications before and during the event
- Support event planning and project management for the Game Jam, including timelines, communications, logistics, and documentation
- Help coordinate mentors, judges, sponsors, partners, and other contributors
- Contribute to the design of a strong participant experience, including orientation materials, workshops, event flow, and showcase elements
- Support game design and development workshops, demos, and related programming hosted by the Libraries
- Foster collaboration with colleges, student groups, and campus partners connected to game development, design, and interactive media
- Assist with day-of-event operations, troubleshooting, and general event facilitation
- Support efforts to showcase games and interactive projects developed by the NC State community
- Maintain planning records, notes, and supporting materials that improve continuity and future event development
- Bring relevant interests and expertise to help strengthen the growth and quality of the Collegiate Game Jam and related programming
- The Game Design Graduate Assistant will report to the Experiential Learning Services Librarian

Preferred candidates will have experience in some combination of the following:
- Event planning, project coordination, or live program support
- Community-facing work such as participant support, outreach, or communications
- Game jams, hackathons, student programs, or other collaborative creative events
- Game design, game development, or familiarity with game-making tools and workflows
- Working with sponsors, mentors, judges, or external partners
- Workshops, live demonstrations, or instructional support
- Comfort with personal computing and event technology, software, and hardware
- A successful candidate will be organized, dependable, communicative, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment. They should be able to manage details across a multi-month planning process, adapt during live events, and support participants from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels.
