The County Administrative Assistant is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (
NCCE) and a vital member of the Administrative Support Team. Reporting directly to the County Extension Director, the Administrative Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the business operations while providing direct assistance to the Director.
The position supports programs related to Volunteer Systems, 4-H Youth Development, Food Security, Nutrition and Local Foods, and Agriculture and Natural Resources and cooperates with colleagues in the
NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibility is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the
NCCE.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens.
Wake County is located in central North Carolina and has a population over 1.1 million residents. Wake County is home to Raleigh, the state capital, as well as 12 other smaller municipalities, and N.C. State University. The county includes both urban and rural areas with a growing local foods interest and consistent support for agriculture, natural resources, youth development and Extension's efforts to build the capacity of our partners through excellence in programming, training opportunities and strong partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities
The County Administrative Assistant position provides office support and leadership, under supervision, to the Extension staff and does related work as required to support educational programs in a variety of areas including some data entry and office supply management. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the County Extension Director and other staff/program areas including Agriculture, Natural Resources, 4-H and Family and Consumer Science. Position interacts with other county departments (Human Resources, Finance, Budget, Facility Services, etc.) to ensure effective relationships with county government.
The County Administrative Assistant will work with the County Extension Director and Department Business Manager to develop and effectively manage customer, finance and program support operations in the County Center and manage fiscal resources provided to the County Center by NC Cooperative Extension.
