Position Overview
| Essential Job Duties |
The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at North Carolina State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the area of soil carbon sequestration. The scholar will work with Dr. Hui Li, Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to conduct studies on mineral-soil organic matter interactions using a suite of advanced analytical techniques. The scholar will perform literature reviews and generate peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals.
Crop and Soil Sciences is a department with diverse disciplines that encompass research, extension, and teaching related to soil science and the genetic improvement, production, and utilization of agronomic and turfgrass crops. Research in basic and applied science and the engagement of technology are transferred to the public and private sector practitioners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and conduct studies related to mineral-soil organic matter interaction
- Conduct lab and field experiments and employ a suite of spectroscopic, mass spectrometric, and isotope-labeling techniques
- Generate peer-reviewed manuscripts and present the work at international conferences

Requirements and Preferences

| Department Required Skills |
- Ph.D. degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Basic research skills in soil chemistry

| Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
- Strong technical communication skills (written and oral).
- Experience working with a programming language like R.
- Experience in using stable 13C isotope tracing techniques
- Experience in studying nutrient fate and transport.
