Job Description

Job Summary:


We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-driven Senior Calibration and Metrology Engineer to support our aerospace manufacturing and testing operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of precise calibration, maintenance, and certification of aerospace-related test and measurement equipment to ensure compliance with stringent AS9100, and ISO 17025 standards.


This position will be responsible for updating calibration system cycle inventory. Enforcing calibration, FOE/FOD, and ESD protocols. Requesting quotes from main calibration houses. Generating purchasing requisition, non-conforming equipment records in our Quality Applications and ERP System. Performing Quality Assurance related tasks in support of engineering, operations, and incoming, in-process and final inspection.


All equipment and tools are currently outsourced for calibration. This position will be responsible for reviewing Mercury System's assets and determining opportunities for in-house calibration and defining potential costs.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Administrate and maintain calibration system to current updates.
  • Create and submit Purchase Requisition (PR) to procurement department for Purchase Order release.
  • Request quotes from calibration houses.
  • Coordinate with operations on site calibration schedule for stationary equipment.
  • Other activities related to QA LAB and calibration.
  • Support QA LAB receiving inspection area.
  • Reviewing supporting data, documentation and generating inspection records.
  • Maintain traceability of calibration standards to NIST and ensure all work complies with AS9100, ISO 17025, and ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 standards.
  • Interpret technical documentation such as calibration procedures, aerospace specifications, and manufacturer manuals.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and coordinate repair of measurement tools critical to flight hardware and ground support equipment.
  • Lead root cause investigations for out-of-tolerance conditions and assist in risk assessments related to calibration impact.
  • Provide technical mentorship to staff supporting calibration activities.
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates with complete and accurate data for internal use and regulatory audits.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to schedule and prioritize equipment calibrations with minimal operational disruption.
  • Support external and internal quality audits by presenting calibration records and process documentation.
  • Continuously improve calibration processes, SOPs, and documentation in line with evolving aerospace requirements.
  • Review of Mercury System's assets to determine opportunities for in-house calibration and reduce third-party calibration vendor spend.


Required Qualifications



  • 2+ years' experience in Metrology administration.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on calibration experience in aerospace
  • Proven track record of working in or with accredited labs (ISO 17025 or equivalent).
  • Perform ESD verification on ESD monitors and mats.
  • Understanding of electronics functioning preferred.
  • Mechanical inspection preferred.
  • Familiar with ISO 17025, INSI/NCSL Z540.3 or other metrology standards preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical inspection tools.
  • Experience with a Quality Application such as TIPQA, Oracle preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented, have good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working in an ISO-9001 and/or AS9100 Quality System environment.
  • Microsoft Office and Excel.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified Calibration (CCT) or equivalent credential.
  • Familiarity with aerospace OEM and DoD calibration requirements.
  • Experience with cleanroom or flight hardware support environments.

Pay Grade Range
Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position
* $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
$84,000.00 - $168,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
* $88,500.00 - $177,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
