In collaboration with attending oncologists and under the direction of the Medical Director of the Clinic and Infusion Centers, the Sr. Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive care for oncology patients across the outpatient oncology clinics and infusion centers. The PA provides education for patients, families, and staff. Responsibilities include oversight and management of patients receiving infusion therapies and evaluating patients within the clinic for longitudinal oncologic care, with a strong focus on identifying and managing treatment-related toxicities, urgent clinic visits, infusion reactions, and oncologic emergencies. The PA demonstrates advanced knowledge of general hematology oncology including solid tumors, benign and hematologic malignancies, including the administration and management of antineoplastic therapies such as chemotherapy, biologic, and immunotherapies. Care includes patients undergoing clinical trials and other complex hematology oncology treatment regimens. Additional responsibilities include participating in or initiating research, supporting the development and revision of divisional policies and procedures, and adapting role responsibilities to meet evolving patient and system needs.
