DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribesappropriate nursingactions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning. Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly. Utilizesan appropriate toolfor assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.) Demonstrates an understanding of medications with regards to action and side effects. Reports pertinent information toappropriateindividual. Educates patients and significant others about their medications. Demonstrates the ability to evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes. Maintain the standards of nursing care andimplementsthe policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursingunit. Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. Full understanding of the attendance and punctualityguidelines, andadhere to the dress code. Reports pertinent observations and reactionsregardingpatients to theappropriate person(i.e.physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and concisely. Provides quality care to patients and work with multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. Whenprimarystate of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Participation in a professional nursing organization. Additionallicense/certification requirements asdeterminedby the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position isvery activeand requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinelycomes into contact withpatients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day,365 daysa year.
