SUMMARY:

Provides clinical and administrative supervision to the Healthy Transitions Team, working with youth and young adults, ages 16-25 who have experienced their first episode of psychosis. Must maintain knowledge and competence in best practices for treating this population through an early intervention specialty clinic model.

Clinical responsibilities include conducting client assessments, developing treatment plans and intervention strategies, overseeing team caseloads, conducting crisis assessments, monitoring documentation, and providing direct treatment as needed. Administrative responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervising team staff. Independent licensure required along with clinical and supervisory experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains current knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and vocational strategies that are considered best practice for youth and young adults experiencing early psychosis.
  • Conducts and supervises the completion of comprehensive evaluations to formulate accurate diagnoses, monitor psychological status, and determine treatment interventions.
  • Oversees the development of treatment plans for assigned population, identifying appropriate practice guidelines.
  • Supervises clinical staff in providing psycho-education to clients and their families, regarding diagnosis, treatment options and recommendations, and self-care techniques.
  • Supports clinical staff in their coordination with other practitioners involved in client care, both within and outside of the agency, including child's primary care physician and other medical and clinical practitioners.
  • Provides general outpatient and outreach services as needed or to support staff, including both office and home-based individual, family, and group therapy, psychiatric rehabilitation and clinical evaluations using best practice treatment strategies effective for use with early psychosis.
  • Performs crisis assessments on youth and young adults referred by schools, physicians, and hospitals to divert from use of the hospital emergency rooms, linking client and family into needed services and supports.
  • Assists team member to identify client and family needs that can be supported within other state systems (e.g., education, ORS, BHDDH) and through other community-based resources. Prepares assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans for inclusion in clinical records according to Gateway Healthcare policy, including required timeframes.
  • Provides periodic backup to clinicians providing after-hour emergency on-call services. Identifies payor sources for qualifying services, e.g., insurance, state funds, Medicaid, etc. and ensures that authorization processes are in place and correct billing codes are used.
  • Identifies and establishes procedures for, and monitors data systems needed to measure client outcomes; provides reports and analyses of aggregate data.
  • Ensure the collection of required data for BHDDH and submission of reports within required timeframes.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of outreach activities to recruit clients, acting as liaison to other providers and as primary contact for referrals.
  • Hires, orients, trains, and evaluates program staff according to Gateway Healthcare policy.
  • Provides clinical supervision and administrative oversight to team members. Supervision will include the monitoring and evaluation of performance, productivity, support, training, and guidance.
  • Makes case assignments and coordinates staff schedules to meet the needs of clients and their families.
  • Understands, trains, and monitors clinical staff on insurance benefits and the authorization process, providing support to them in their interactions with insurance companies.
  • Assists the finance department in resolving authorization and billing issues.
  • Assists in monitoring and ensuring compliance with credentialing, licensing, and contract requirements for assigned programs (e.g., DCYF, RIDE, EOHHS).
  • Ensures the clinical staff complete documentation of all client contacts in accordance with Gateway Healthcare's policies and procedures.
  • Monitors program budget(s) to ensure compliance with revenue and expense targets.
  • Completes administrative tasks of approving payroll, mileage, benefit time, etc.
  • Conducts self in a professional and ethical manner in keeping with Gateway Healthcare policy and professional guidelines on ethical conduct.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed independent practitioner (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, PhD)
  • At least 2 years' experience supervising clinical staff Demonstrated expertise with youth and young adults who have experienced first episode psychosis

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of adolescent development and family systems issues.
  • Knowledge of community resources for clients and families with behavioral health disorders.
  • Advocacy and teaching skills. Valid driver's license and use of car during normal working hours or other means of transportation in order to perform the major functions of the job.
  • Automobile liability insurance coverage for vehicle being used in accordance with Center requirements.
  • CPR training obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained annually. Knowledge and ability to supervise interns in accordance with Center policies and procedures.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals in the field of child psychology.
  • Ability to prepare clinical record entries that conform to a variety of standards (i.e. Gateway Healthcare, INC., state licensure, Medicaid, JCAHO, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively present information to supervisor, other members of the treatment staff, and clients and their family members.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain an effective working relationship with members of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications.
  • Oral and written communication skills, including speech, grammar, spelling, and legibility are at sufficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals either manually or by use of a calculator.

  • Complies with American Psychological Association ethics and Gateway Healthcare ethics and codes of conduct in all contacts with clients, co-workers and the community.
  • Uses and accesses information in client's health information record or about a client only as necessary to actual duties and then only in accordance with access levels assigned to this position by Gateway Healthcare Inc. from time-to-time and in accordance with Gateway Healthcare Inc. policies, rules, and procedures as adopted by Gateway Healthcare Inc. from time-to-time. Observe all agency policies and procedures.

INTERPERSONAL FACTORS:

  • Must be able to appreciate the sensitive/private nature and legal status of information about individual clients obtained, maintained, or used by Gateway Healthcare Inc. and to not access, use, disclose, or request such information about a client unless necessary to the performance of his/her job.

Pay Range:

$74,672.00-$123,198.40
