Office Assistant - Mental Health Technician


Behavioral Health Services - Milwaukee County Mental Health Clinic


Hourly Pay Rate: $14.17 - $21.25

Job Summary: The Office Assistant - Mental Health Technician will provide support to youth and families who are receiving direct services through the Milwaukee County Mental Health Clinic. The individual will assist in coordinating appointments for medication management and psychotherapy with clinic providers, manage the clinical daily appointment schedule, and assist with other customer requests. Other duties include gathering client vitals and de-escilating client behaviors.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Greet, check-in, and schedule appointments for counseling and medication management appointments. Answer telephone calls, maintain client records, and communicate scheduling changes with families and the care team. Assist providers to manage daily appointment schedule.
  • Assist clerical support by filing, calling clients/vendors/system partners, updating data in electronic record, accessing and distributing reports, copying, printing, scanning, uploading, and faxing.
  • Copy, fax, email, and scan documents related to client medical charts.
  • Assist clinical staff with de-escalating clients who may become dysregulated during medication management or therapy encounters. Manage the waiting room area.
  • Support operations of the Behavioral Health Services Milwaukee County Mental Health Clinic.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of Administrative or Office Support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of calendar systems to schedule appointments, such as Outlook.
  • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous Community Based Residential Facility Training.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant experience.
  • Experience with Mental Health Populations or in a Medical Clinic.
