SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior Plant Engineer holds site responsibility for the execution of capital projects related to utilities, buildings, and grounds from design inception through release to Operations, and acts as a technical resource to the facilities management organization for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

The Senior Plant Engineer reports to the Sr VP Site Operations. Facility & Electrical Engineers / Construction Managers are direct reports to the Senior Plant Engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities of this role include the following:

  1. Capital Project Management
    1. Oversee the execution and successful close-out of site capital construction projects
    2. Lead cross-functional project teams to design, build, commission (validate) small to mid-sized facility and utility improvement and construction capital projects
    3. Develop, manage, and track project time-lines and project capital budgets
    4. Maintain all site-mandated cGMP and safety requirements during all phases of construction and qualification
    5. Write and execute validation and commissioning protocols
    6. Produce and maintain documentation related to the project, including: Change controls, PO requests, project schedules, sketches and drawings to assist in project execution
  2. Plant Change Activity
    1. Serve as a member of the Change Control Committee to evaluate proposed change activity at the plant
  3. Site Facilities Master Planning
    1. Own, maintain, and execute documents and associated drawings related to the execution of long-term phased capital improvements corresponding with the goals and objectives of site leadership
  4. Facilities Engineering and Troubleshooting
    1. Act as back-up support to the Department Manager of Facilities
    2. Serve and support the day to day operations to the areas of responsibility
  5. Management of Facility Engineers / Construction Managers
    1. Manage day to day activities and work assignments in support of site goals and objectives.
    2. Train and develop junior engineers to increase their skills and abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelors degree in an engineering/technical discipline, preferably Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, with 10 years of facilities related experience; or an associates degree in a technical discipline with 15 years of facilities related experience.
  • This role requires strong technical leadership, technical writing and communication skills, the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, and proficiency with a currently supported version of AutoCAD, MS Excel and Word. The ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment is necessary for success.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage effectively in a fast-paced environment, working under tight timelines and be able to motivate direct and indirect reports to deliver expected results. Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation are necessary for success

GMP DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

  1. Approval of change controls that relate to or affect systems in areas of assigned responsibility as back-up to the Department Manager of Facilities.
  2. Approval of validation and commissioning documents in areas of assigned responsibility.
  3. Product release and rejection decisions - Provide technical assistance to QA as needed as back-up to the Department Manager of Facilities.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000.00. This position is eligible for Alvogen's annual discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package, consisting of medical and prescription drug coverage (two PPO plans and an HDHP with Health Savings Account and employer contribution), dental, vision, flexible spending accounts. Alvogen's benefits package also includes a retirement savings program, long-term care coverage, paid time off (176 hours per year, prorated on hire date) inclusive of sick time, disability benefits, life insurance, a wellness program, and 13 company recognized paid holidays per year.
