Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Early Childhood Home and Family Services (ECHFS) at CDD consists of a cluster of direct service and home visiting programs servicing high-risk families and young children. ECHFS is seeking a student employee to work 15-20 hours per week, M-F 8am-5pm at the CDD office, to assist in a variety of program and administrative tasks and projects. This position will require passing a Background Check and Fingerprinting.

The student will work across a variety of programs in the ECHFS Division however the main program supported will be the Early Childhood Evaluation Program (ECEP). ECEP provides diagnostic and assessment services for concerns of developmental delay, complex medical conditions, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, and behavioral/regulatory issues very young children from birth to age three living in New Mexico.

The student hired will:

* Retrieve medical records from outside agencies

* Scan, shred and file protocols to program shared drive

* Create information and training/meeting packets

* Organize and inventory equipment

The successful candidate will have the following qualities:

* The ability to work in an environment that support individuals with development disabilities, children at risk and families in need.

* Punctual and reliable attendance

* Advanced organizational and time-management skills

* Adaptable to change, ability to handle last minute work assignments, and unafraid of working hard.

* Effective communication skills as demonstrated through the interview process

* Sensitivity and awareness when working with confidential information

  • Previous administrative experience in an office setting;
  • Interpersonal skills for engagement with clinical, administrative, and outside constituents and community partners;
  • Knowledge and skills with computers and software, including proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel and database applications;
  • Experience in customer service-focused positions;
  • Advanced organizational and detail skills;
  • Experience with confidential material, HIPAA, PHI procedures.
