Position Summary
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety and health procedures to ensure compliance with Ship Provisioning contract requirements and all applicable federal regulations. This role inspects operations, identifies risks, ensures adherence to safety standards, and communicates findings to leadership and government stakeholders. The SSHO plays a critical role in maintaining a safe work environment, supporting compliance, and promoting a culture of safety across the contract.

Key Responsibilities
*Implement and monitor safety and health procedures in accordance with contract and regulatory requirements
*Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards
*Identify, document, and communicate safety deficiencies to leadership and government representatives
*Maintain safety and health documentation, reports, and inspection records
*Analyze inspection results and identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement
*Coordinate with leadership to implement corrective actions and improve safety performance
*Deliver and support safety training programs for employees
*Investigate safety-related concerns and customer complaints and implement corrective actions
*Ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols
*Develop and implement safety policies aligned with OSHA and CDC guidelines
*Participate in safety meetings, audits, and stakeholder feedback sessions
*Maintain required certifications and complete all mandatory training
*Perform additional duties as assigned in support of contract requirements

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
*High School Diploma or equivalent required
*Advanced degree preferred
Experience:
*Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience managing or supporting safety programs of similar size and complexity

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices, regulations, and compliance standards
*Ability to interpret safety regulations, procedures, and technical documents
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and training delivery
*Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including individuals with disabilities
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
*Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement process improvements
*Strong attention to detail, accountability, and problem-solving skills
*Ability to maintain a professional and positive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders

Certifications & Requirements
*Valid driver's license required
*Ability to obtain and maintain required background checks and contract credentials
*OSHA 30 General Industry Certification required
*Must meet EM-385 (U.S. Army Safety and Health Requirements Manual) qualifications
o3 years of safety experience OR
o2 years with a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or safety-related degree

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position operates in a dynamic work environment that may include exposure to industrial and operational settings. Conditions may include moderate noise levels, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and exposure to fumes, dust, odors, and other environmental factors.
The role requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, and monitoring work areas for extended periods. The ability to lift up to 50-100 pounds occasionally, 20-50 pounds frequently, and 10-20 pounds regularly may be required. Additional physical activities may include stooping, pushing, pulling, and directing personnel in active work environments.
