About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility during an assigned shift. This role oversees all aspects of plant operations, including boilers, turbines, and steam systems, while ensuring compliance with safety standards, environmental permits, and operational requirements.

The Shift Supervisor routinely tours the facility, directs plant personnel, and ensures all work is performed in accordance with established procedures and regulatory limits. In emergency or abnormal operating conditions, the Shift Supervisor provides leadership, coordinates response efforts, and performs required operational actions to maintain safe and continuous operations. Please Note That this position offers a $20,000 sign on bonus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing all safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Approve and coordinate equipment removal from service for maintenance, ensuring proper lockout/tagout, permitting, and clearance procedures
  • Ensure plant operations remain within all environmental limits, permits, and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to and manage emergencies, incidents, injuries, and abnormal operating conditions
  • Direct and verify completion of shift, daily, weekly, and monthly operational checks
  • Maximize plant performance, reliability, and availability across all systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues
  • Coordinate maintenance and operational activities across departments
  • Lead special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager
  • Train, develop, and manage a skilled, flexible, and motivated operating team
  • Ensure ongoing technical training, qualification, and licensing of assigned shift personnel
  • Maintain administrative and personnel records
  • Direct manpower to support housekeeping, safety, and operational excellence initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in power generation or resource recovery plant operations
  • Hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers and electrical generation systems
  • Formal technical training required; engineering degree preferred but not required
  • Ability to sit for the required testing and complete the Massachusetts Second Class Engineer's License requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an ASME QRO Provisional License and a Site-Specific Operator's License
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, alternating between day and night shifts, including every other weekend, holidays, outage support, and vacation coverage
Critical Skills & Abilities
  • Strong technical knowledge of steam-generating power stations and control systems
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor plant procedures and technical instructions
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with complex equipment and systems
  • Experience in training personnel and interpreting logic and control diagrams
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an ASME QRO Shift Supervisor's License
  • Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required for 24/7 operations

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $108,900.00 - $155,600.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
