About the role

Underwrite new business accounts for Life, AD&D, Short Term Disability (STD), Family Medical Leave (FML), and Long Term Disability (LTD), typically covering 100 to 500 lives, with a focus on 100 to 250 lives. Work with other business partners on cross-sale opportunities to promote alignments within the Benefits Division's product portfolio. Support Symetra's sales, profitability, persistency, and growth goals by applying training and showing proficiency in risk evaluation and pricing.

What you will do



  • Review Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions by verifying census data and plan information. Request additional information when needed.
  • Develop and analyze manual ratings.
  • Use historic premium and claims data, if applicable, with a credibility formula.
  • Develop and communicate new business rate recommendations according to pricing targets and authority level.
  • Underwrite large market inforce customer accounts (Life coverage for accounts over 500 lives, generally up to 1,000 lives; Supplemental Health generally up to 5,000 eligible lives).
  • Process sold accounts and renewals following established procedures while managing a book of business.


  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Symetra sales, field and home office service and actuarial teams.
  • Participate in projects and training initiatives as assigned. Maintain accurate and up to date reporting of assigned presales and renewals.


Compensation

Salary Range: $49,600 - $82,700 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.
