Position Highlights

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research, and education. The UACC is the only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the State of Arizona and one of only 53 nationwide.

The UACC seeks a Research Program Administration Officer to manage and oversee critical committee and administrative operational tasks in the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), including coordination of several UACC research review committees such as the Scientific Review Committee (SRC), Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB), and the Clinical Research Oversight Council (CROC). This position also maintains staff and faculty training certifications in Oncore and Florence databases, schedules and creates agendas and minutes for various meetings, creates monthly CTO reports and newsletters, and prepares data and slides for leadership meetings. The successful applicant will demonstrate high-level attention to detail, skill in written and verbal communication, the ability to meet competing deadlines, and prior experience working collegially with faculty, investigators, research study staff, and others involved in projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Research Review Committee Operations:

  • Manage operations of the UACC research review committees - SRC, CROC and DSMB.
  • Prepare meeting material; this may include gathering background research, providing agendas, creating action-plans, and follow-up and minutes.
  • Track attendance and follow up with committee members for review materials.
  • Draft letters for committee review outcomes and communicate decisions with faculty and staff.
  • Manage committee membership and onboard and train new members.
  • Maintain databases for each committee to track trials and committee reviews.

Oncore Data Integrity:

  • Provide training to coordinators and staff on input of data to Oncore.
  • Create and maintain training and work practice documents pertaining to Oncore submissions and onboarding.
  • Ensure that new studies are inputted correctly into Oncore and trial accruals are accurately captured.
  • Update onboarding checklists as needed and communicate with CTO Managers.
  • Review database periodically to ensure correctness and completeness of data, follows-up and requests information from others as needed.
  • Develop and implement trainings and attend required staff meetings.
  • Ensure smooth operations for all the committees which are required as part of the UACC's NCI designation.

Research Training Certifications:

  • Maintain database of research training certifications for all CTO faculty and staff.
  • Ensure everyone stays current with their registrations to avoid suspension of trails, perform data collection and follow-up with a high level of professional communication and call to action.
  • Onboard new staff and provide registration and renewal assistance for NCI Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) registrations.

Communications:

  • Maintain professional and thorough communication across study investigators, staff, clinical partners, and UACC leaders.
  • Provide timely responses to investigator and staff queries.
  • Provide quarterly reports to UACC leadership focused on performance metrics.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing committees (scheduling, writing agendas and minutes, drafting letters).
  • Experience with CCSG guidelines for NCI-designated Cancer Center.
  • Experience using Oncore CTMS.
  • Familiarity with Florence e-binders.
  • Experience using PowerPoint.
