100% Remote First 2 weeks of employment is required for candidates to be onsite for training - fully compensated Think is seeking a Certified Medical Coder with a strong obstetrics background to support hospital-based OB coding in a remote environment following completion of onsite training. This role requires a coder who can work independently, apply complex coding guidelines confidently, and collaborate with clinical partners to resolve documentation and coding challenges. Core Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of obstetrics terminology, including antepartum, delivery, postpartum, and pregnancy complications
  • Prior obstetrics coding experience is highly preferred; an OB clinical background combined with professional coding experience will also be considered
  • Active AAPC certification required (CPC) with a minimum of three (3) years of professional coding experience
  • High level of comfort independently applying ICD-10-CM obstetric guidelines and CPT rules
  • Experience in hospital-based and/or professional fee coding environments is preferred

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate documentation, coding patterns, and workflows to identify discrepancies or improvement opportunities
  • Able to identify trends, recurring issues, or breakdowns in documentation or charge capture and assess likely root causes
  • Comfortable researching coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory guidance to support well-reasoned decisions
  • Approaches complex or ambiguous coding scenarios with critical thinking and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • When seeking clarification, comes prepared with a preliminary recommendation, rationale, or supporting guidance
Communication & Independence
  • Comfortable communicating directly with OB Hospitalists, clinicians, and clinical staff
  • Able to clearly explain coding decisions and guideline-based rationale in a professional and collaborative manner
  • Works independently and is self-directed in a fully remote environment
  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and strong time-management skills
  • Proactively escalates issues and contributes constructive suggestions to improve coding accuracy and clinical alignment
