8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

This position may be eligible for a telework schedule once onboarding into position is complete and with supervisor approval.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the Financial Aid Compliance Counselor position is to:
Monitor student activity for students enrolled in Part of Term Courses and complete required processing tasks. Perform essential processing including identifying relevant students, communicating with students, and submitting students for withdrawal processing. Identify and finalize students that need reverse processing and re-awarding. Serve as the primary contact for Course Program of Study (CPoS) at Charlotte, adjusting aid based on eligible courses and ensuring federal compliance. Process aid adjustments for thesis and repeat coursework. Manage all unofficial withdrawals at the end of each term. Support student success by ensuring accurate and timely financial aid processing. Provide backup support for federal file processing, study abroad, transient study, and withdrawal workflows. Offer guidance to students, parents, and campus partners regarding financial aid policies and procedures. Fulfill assigned responsibilities that enhance the effectiveness and service quality of the financial aid office.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform specialized duties related to Part of Term processing and CPoS requirements.
  • Complete unofficial Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations.
  • Determine financial aid eligibility for students enrolled in thesis and repeat coursework.
  • Analyze and review output reports related to CPoS and Part of Term activity.
  • Resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate, compliant processing of federal aid.
  • Provide guidance to students and staff regarding federal aid programs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with campus partners including the Registrar's Office, Student Services, Niner Central, University Communications, IT, and the Graduate School, to support accurate and compliant CPoS processing.

Other Work Responsibilities

  • Perform other job duties and special projects as assigned or directed.
  • Research federal and state rules and regulations concerning financial aid eligibility.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of office policies and procedures.
  • Review student records to make informed decisions regarding aid eligibility and compliance.
  • Collect and analyze data to support operational needs and reporting.
  • Meet internal time service deadlines and critical federal and state deadlines.
  • Provide guidance to students by a variety of means including in person, by phone, and email, ensuring accurate and supportive assistance.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Financial aid experience; experience with R2T4 calculations.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of federal and state requirements regarding aid administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to details in high-volume environments, precision and accuracy. effective and efficient critical thinking skills, demonstrated analytical problem solving.
  • Banner experience is preferred.
