Facilities Technician is needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client in Amityville, NY



Contract Duration: 12 months



Job Description:

This role will support three buildings for the client at the Amityville Campus, totaling over 286,000 Sq ft.



Responsible for:

  • The maintenance and repair of the facility's structure, equipment and grounds, including all trades (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Performs trades work, such as carpentry or painting, in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures.
  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Requires knowledge of applicable standards or regulations, and may require specific trade certifications.

  • Fully proficient support individual contributor. Works under limited supervision. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.
  • Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.

  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills; interacts directly with requestors within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
  • May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.

Education & Experience

  • Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.



Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
  • Be able to work on lifts and ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in extreme temperatures and high humidity conditions, either inside or outside the building, as necessary
  • Working knowledge of a CMMS
  • Electrician (Journeyman / Master)
  • Specialized training (Plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing/office environment
  • Good communication skills and teamwork



Employment Pre-requisites

The following requirements must be met to be eligible for this position: successful completion of a background investigation, and drug urinalysis.
