Hannaford offers a flexible work environment, with a hybrid work expectation for field-based positions of being physically present in-store and/or a General Office in your territory at least 3 days a week.

Prospective candidates must reside in one of the following states: NY, VT or MA, with NY being preferred.

Position Summary:

Provides divisional operational leadership while effectively balancing the needs of associates, customers, and stakeholders. Ensures operational execution of all division policies, plans and programs in all retail areas to maximize sales and profit objectives. Strategically plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of district Directors of Operation and their staff specialists to achieve division sales, profit, and operating objectives. Reviews store operating results in relation to projected objectives and oversees the implementation of appropriate investigative, remedial, improvement or reward systems. Effectively guides the culture through personal leadership and support. Leads a comprehensive divisional talent development process that identifies and develops talented associates to provide strong leadership succession depth.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategically lead the activities of district Directors of Operation and their staff specialists to achieve division sales, profit, and operating objectives.
  • Align and maximize divisional sales and marketing initiatives while reducing costs and increasing retail profits.
  • Provide business focus at division level while partnering closely with other leaders to explore strategic opportunities across divisions.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with Hannaford functional leaders to maximize efficiency in retail program development and execution.
  • Lead and coach District Directors of Operation to strengthen retail capability, to develop retail talent and to coordinate efforts across geographic boundaries and specific markets.
  • Facilitate collaboration within the Directors of Operation team to most effectively achieve divisional results.
  • Lead and foster a divisional talent development process that identifies and develops future leaders to provide strong leadership succession depth.
  • Lead and foster a culture that demonstrates a genuine concern for associates and their needs while achieving high standards of performance.
  • Lead a strong community relations strategy in all marketing areas to steward the Hannaford Brand and benefit the communities within the division.
  • Lead and create strong followership throughout the division.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Extensive district retail leadership experience: divisional leadership experience preferred.
  • Significant experience achieving divisional or district sales and profit goals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of store operations and merchandising practices.
  • Fluent with interpreting financial statements and creating remedial district-level action plans.
  • Experience leading in a high-performance, people-focused culture.
  • Experience leading a successful talent development strategy.
  • Experience leading significant change initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to create followership and inspire high performance in an entire division.
  • Ability to create strong collaborative relationships with functional leaders.
  • Strong ability to influence senior functional leaders while representing the interests of retail.

  • Strong cognitive skills, including root cause analysis, decision-making and financial analysis.

The Salary Range for this Position is $214,640 - $321,960
