Job Overview:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for examination, assessment, care planning and performing physical therapy treatment. The Physical therapist will provide treatment intervention that restores bodily functions and prevents disability following injury or disease. The physical therapist delegates and monitors responsibilities assigned to support staff (PTA and Rehab Aide) and students. The physical therapist will participate in performance improvement activities, and in all mandatory staff education programs.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1 year or more experience
  • Doctoral Degree or Masters Degree in Physical therapy from a CAPTE accredited school or equivalent
  • Licensed or eligible for PT Licensure in New Jersey
  • Must have NJ license upon hire but will interview license eligible

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions-remove when posting):

  • Shift: Day
  • Part Time

Essential Functions:

  • Performs functional assessments in the long term and sub-acute setting within the appropriate time frame.
  • Identifies and realistic short term and long term goals based on individualized resident needs and capabilities.
  • Evaluates and treats and re-evaluates residents to meet the established Standard of Care.
  • Develops and modifies individualized goals and plan of care as needed to functional needs, clinical course and progress of resident.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary resident / member plan of care and teaching process. Communicates rehab needs to the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify what the resident's / members educational needs are and provides education as appropriate.
  • Documentation reflects resident assessment, goals and progress. Entries comply with documentation policies of the department.
  • Assesses, organizes and implements outcome tool and results into professional practice.
  • Makes recommendations for services outside of the discipline as appropriate to resident/family needs.
  • Directly supervises the clinical work of physical therapist assistant and keeps the supervisor and managers informed.
  • Collaborates scheduling of resident caseload in conjunction with Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates compliance with resident billing process.
  • Records statistical information for department in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Applies proper body mechanics to all aspects of rehab services.
  • Correctly complies with the national resident safety goals and associated policies as applicable to scope of practice.
  • Provides supervises students to ensure the safe provision of care/treatment/therapies.
