The Patient Access Advocate I completes registration for scheduled and unscheduled visits, updating demographics, verifying insurance, collecting pointofservice payments, and ensuring clean, accurate accounts in the ADT system. Confirms all information meets billing and compliance requirements and maintains basic knowledge of Medicare and other regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities:

  • Provides exceptional patient service using CARES, AIDET, EPE, and deescalation techniques.
  • Registers patients for scheduled and unscheduled visits, updating demographics verifying insurance, confirming benefits, documenting actions, and ensuring compliance with Medicare and payer guidelines.
  • Collects pointofservice payments, explains financial responsibilities, and refers patients to Financial Advocates when needed.
  • Ensures accurate, complete accounts, maintains productivity and data quality, and supports clear communication and patient transparency.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six months of healthcare experience or one year of customer service.
  • Must pass the twoweek Patient Access Academy with an 85% or higher. CHAA/CHAM or similar certification preferred.
  • Basic understanding of insurance, medical terminology, billing codes, and registration processes is preferred.
