Who we are looking for: We are currently searching for a Product Engineer to be based out of Hobart, IN. Reporting to the Sr. Product Engineer, this technical role is accountable for our overall success in developing and commercializing new and innovative product solutions. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience. This position will also provide technical and engineering documentation support for existing products. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future. Additional Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:
- Work closely with the Sr. Product Engineer to support CAD design, drawing creation, and BOM creation for innovative new products in the Corrosion Resistant Conduit and Conduit & Cable Fittings businesses
- Standardize packaging and specifications for fabricated fittings answering questions and requests
- Collaborate with codes and application team to remove regional or local roadblock (code-conversions)
- Support Sales Managers and Reps with technical data and competitive material cross-referencing
- Collaborate with product management to offer value-added solutions
- Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as operations, sales, and manufacturing, to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities
- Develop 3D models, CAD drawings, line art, and assist in other specification-related tasks
- Standardize packaging and labelling specifications for product lines
- Perform competitor benchmarking. Assess competitors' products versus mandatory standards and customer needs
- Partner with Product Manager, Engineering Lab, and Sales to identify new product ideas and accelerate market launch
- Assist with Product Management-related activities, including technical analysis and administrative tasks involving pricing, markets, and innovation.
What you bring:
- A Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or business discipline
- 1-3 Years of experience in technical sales or working with specifying engineers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills, self-driven and accountable
- Demonstrated success collaborating with cross functional teams
- Strong ability to communicate with customers and assess customer needs
- Experience and familiarity with our products and line of business is a plus
- Self-starter, organized, analytical and innovative problem solver

Within 3 months, you'll:
- Complete the Atkore immersion program. Learning about the Atkore business system and how we use LEAN principles in running our business.
- Deep understanding of the Strategic Deployment Process (SDP).
- High level coordination with Product Management team around Atkore's overall commercial strategy.
- Develop relationships with Atkore stakeholders that help support our strategic objectives.
- Gain an understanding of our internal systems and procedures, customers' needs and how to address those needs.
- Learning our product, services, and overall value proposition for each vertical market.
Within 6-months, you'll:
- Lead a New Product Development project and support the Growth SDP for the business segment.
- Develop a strong relationship with our internal stakeholders.
- Hold a clear understanding of our business, products, commercial structure, the markets we play in, and contributing to set develop and execute strategies.
- Have a strong understanding of our business systems/processes and ability to manage them.
Within 12-months, you'll:
- Stand out contributor achieving our monthly and quarterly goals for these products and services.
- A trusted advisor to our product managers, sales teams and customers.
- Be leading innovation and strategic projects - potentially supporting global accounts.
- Strategically driving our product offering and brands, innovation, and rationalization.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $65,440 - $89,980. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives. Benefits available include:
