Your Opportunity as the Technologist, R&D

Support the development and optimization of iconic Smucker's Uncrustables, contributing to new formulations, process improvements, and technical solutions that make an impact from bench to plant floor. Location: Orrville, Ohio

Work Arrangements: Onsite 100% with 20% annual travel

In this role you will:

  • Use standard methods and approaches to frame a business challenge; may lead straightforward business process optimization work with guidance

  • Coordinate and manage laboratory, pilot plant and plant trials for projects at JMS and contract manufacturing facilities

  • Conduct analytical testing, analyze data, and articulate findings through written and verbal summaries

  • Coordinate experimental design, shelf life, sensory analysis, and technical appraisals for all projects

  • Contribute to technical proposals and project reports, and maintain all technical documentation according to established procedures

  • Support formulation/process development of new and existing formulas for Smucker's Uncrustables

  • Manage formulas to ensure compliance with nutrient profiles and claims

  • Develop and publish formulation product specifications and other technical documentation

  • Become fluent and participate in JMS Safety and Quality programs to support R&D

  • Build and develop relationships across the SBA to promote collaboration on new product development

  • Develop foundational knowledge and proficiency through work experience

  • Help demonstrate technical readiness for straightforward initiatives within discipline with support from manager and technical leaders; may have technical leadership responsibilities

  • Build effective working relationships within functional team to achieve trust in expertise; seek mentorship from colleagues beyond their direct supervisor

  • Communicate data clearly and concisely in graphs/charts to make recommendations to project team and manager

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or other scientific discipline

  • Research & Development/QA/Operations intern experience

  • Formulation experience

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment Strong organizational, critical thinking and creativity skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Effective presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 20%
