About the Role:
As a senior consultant - data analyst in the Data Services and Management practice area, you will collaborate with team members to conceptualize, deliver, and support healthcare technology initiatives for clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Serving as a data analyst, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will include data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving to support work across New York State healthcare and Medicaid-focused initiatives.
Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.

  • Analyze and collect data with team members.

  • Perform data quality verification checks to achieve report and data accuracy.

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and related strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

  • Manage data and document data processes effectively.

  • Collaborate with team members to solve complex problems using data.

  • Develop Structured Query Language (SQL) queries as needed to mine data from the Medicaid Data Warehouse (MDW).



About You:
Required Qualifications


  • Experience writing ad hoc advanced queries in SQL.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.

  • Effective critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to translate complex analytic concepts into actionable insights for varied audiences.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build stakeholder relationships and understand business needs.

  • Experience using Python for data analysis.

  • Experience developing reports and dashboards using a business intelligence tool such as Power BI or Tableau.



Preferred/Desired Qualifications


  • Foundational understanding of data management

  • Experience working with and managing large, complex data sets

  • Experience using data to inform decision-making

  • Ability to perform data quality analysis to identify risks and opportunities

  • Experience using health informatics or Medicaid/Medicare data to improve healthcare outcomes

  • Ability to work effectively in both remote and office settings

  • Experience in healthcare or a related field



Education and Experience


  • A bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline, plus five years of related experience.

  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.



The target base salary for this position is $84,497.00 to $109,846.00 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
