Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of raw and fabricated materials throughout the facility, including shipping, receiving, storage, and internal distribution. This role supports daily operations by safely operating material-handling equipment, maintaining accurate inventory movement, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet production and customer requirements.

Job Responsibilities



  • Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments using appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Transport finished goods from production areas to the shipping dock and complete required documentation.
  • Perform shipping and receiving transactions within the ERP system.
  • Move in-process materials to designated locations to support workflow efficiency.
  • Store materials in racks or designated floor locations with proper identification.
  • Maintain adequate pallet supply and dispose of damaged or unusable pallets.
  • Handle and dispose of scrap materials in designated areas.
  • Operate forklifts, walk-behind equipment, and overhead cranes safely and effectively.
  • Verify, label, and track materials to ensure accurate inventory control.
  • Support daily shipping, receiving, and inventory activities to meet customer commitments.
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned by leadership.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 6 months of experience operating a forklift.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment, including forklifts and cranes.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks including bending, twisting, reaching, standing, and walking.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.


Work Experience



  • At least 6 months of forklift operation experience required.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred.
