Overview

As a member of the Orange & Rockland Natural Gas Detector (NGD) team, this role develops, supports, and maintains critical applications for field and office NGD operations with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include managing hardware and software testing and deployment, ensuring user training is completed, assisting in budget development and cost control, collaborating across departments, and supporting program data analytics and workflows.

This role requires flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, business and organizational needs, including learning and managing new technologies, compliance requirements, and contributing to the corporate strategy through innovation and automation. This role also requires the ability to operate independently within a fast-paced environment and work proactively with stakeholders at various levels and across various departments.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepares data, reviews, and updates addresses and meter information required for work order completeness, including visualization for various reports such as historical trending, alarm tracking, forecasting, contractor performance trends, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Offers desktop and application support for Profield Encore used by dispatchers and field staff during Natural Gas Detector installations; responds to system outages and assists with field support issues.
  • Collaborates with Profield, AMI, MAMs, MDMS, CC&B, NRG, and GMD IT teams to define application system requirements for the next-generation mobile platform or enhancements to the current platform and related interfaces.
  • Assists with developing, testing, maintaining, and deploying Profield Encore applications, including integration with MAMS, CC&B, GMD, and MDMS.
  • Troubleshoots application performance and outage concerns, working with technical teams to resolve problems and validate systems in production and testing environments; maintains records of repairs and issues within Profield Encore, CC&B, NRG, and related systems.
  • Responsible for day-to-day application support and follow up on routine user issues and questions.
  • Coordinates and provides user training on new application features and develops associated training materials.
  • Collaborates with hardware/software vendors and Gas Operations teams through development, testing, and training phases; ensures employees have correct system and equipment access.
  • Participates in applications testing and assists in making recommendations for development and testing initiatives; recommends modifications to procedures and practices to improve GERC and Gas Operations Field Forces performance.
  • Provides support for the NGD program through data analytics and workflow activities, establishes controls for accurate inventory of computer associated equipment and costs, and performs other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of related experience or
  • Associate's Degree and at least 5 years of related experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of related experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Ability to identify and translate business requirements into technical requirements and vice versa, required.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments and able to meet deadlines, required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and communications (written and verbal) skills. Including the ability to present to various audiences and different levels of management, required.
  • Experience managing and implementing technology solutions and comfort with learning (and self-learning) new tools and systems, required.
  • Proven track record of breaking down processes and identifying key pain points to deliver business improvements, required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and practical experience with Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, Power BI and Power Apps, SharePoint and OneDrive, required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft 365, required.
  • Must have demonstrated organizational and administrative skills, attention to detail, be able to exercise independent judgment, and have a proven track record of working well in team situations, required.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge or experience with mobile computer systems, including the installation and maintenance of the related hardware, preferred.
  • Must have experience with progressive responsibilities in the usage of LAN/WAN administration and/or computer operations, preferred.
  • Knowledge of concepts, technical terms, and terminology of gas operations, preferred.
  • Experience with software design, development and testing, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
  • Must have the means, and be able, to travel to various Company and field locations, when required.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, gloves, and safety shoes when required.
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday.
