GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems. Assists with coordinating the flow of patients and patient calls to facilitate quality patient care and customer service goals. Reports to BPN Practice Manager. Employees holding a Radiology Technologist license will be held accountable to the Nebraska licensure requirements. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. * Performs clinic reception including greeting patients, patient registration and answering the telephone. 3. *Assists with rooming clinic patients by obtaining vital signs, height and weight and prepares patient for visit. 4. *Assists the medical provider with examinations and procedures under the direction of the medical provider or Registered Nurse. 5. *Prepares patient for x-ray; explains procedures to patient and/or family; prepares room, equipment and materials as needed. 6. *Positions patient and arranges immobilization and support devices for patient. 7. *Practices radiation protection/safety techniques to limit exposure to patient and medical staff. 8. *Adjusts equipment controls; determines proper voltage and exposure time; administers routine x-ray exams. 9. *Observes patient and machine during procedure; reports unusual occurrences to physician. 10. *Documents procedure performed in patient record. 11. *Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment; maintains inventory and orders x-ray supplies. 12. *Performs x-ray quality assurance tests and maintains x-ray quality assurance records. 13. *Transmits x-ray images to radiology group for interpretation; completes follow-up of x-ray transmission with phone call. 14. *Reports any problems with x-ray equipment promptly to physician; notifies Office Supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as directed. 15. Recognizes and reacts to emergency procedures per role and policies/procedures. 16. Assists with patient care that is consistent with standards of care and clinical priorities determined by the RN, physician or APP with the nature of the clinic, BPN policies and procedures, demonstrated competencies, and with consideration given to risk management and infection control practices. 17. Provides and/or assists with coordination of orientation activities for new staff. 18. Conducts and/or assists with coordination of validating and revalidation of core job competencies. 19. Coordinates, develops, and revises procedures and protocols. 20. Plans, coordinates and leads training and re-training sessions pulling in other resources when necessary. 21. Responsible for leading the supply ordering process. 22. Assists Practice Manager with staff scheduling and attendance tracking. 23. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 24. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. 25. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technologist program required. Current certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
