Location/Region: This position is a hybrid role located in the Bay Area in California.

What's the role?

The Technical Partner Manager plays a pivotal role in steering the organization towards growth by identifying opportunities, fostering relationships, and ensuring that the tech strategies are effectively executed. The position lays the groundwork for sustainable long-term success by forming strong tech partnerships to differentiate, adapt and integrate the SBU's products and services in the wider consumer electronics XRX industry by using reference designs and system know-how. Identify and pursue opportunities for tech partnerships in a new field of business.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Conduct market research to understand trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Assess leads for their technical and strategic potential.
  • Develop and implement strategic partnerships with key industry players.
  • Collaborate with product management and technology teams at ZEISS to align business strategies with product offerings.
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations to board-level stakeholders and potential clients.
  • Support negotiation of contracts and deals.
  • Develop the organization by identifying opportunities for developing talents and skills necessary for the success of the AR/VR field of business.
  • Create network with key internal partners to gain efficiency and strong commitment to deliver.
  • Collaborates to the overall AR/VR commercial strategy.

Do you qualify?

Education / Professional Certification:

  • (Master's) degree in engineering, or equivalent, possible: business/management with strong tech focus

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in technical business development, technical key account management, technical product management or cross-functional project leadership in a complex and international environment, or any other technical role that requires a degree.
  • Proven success in managing complex projects and contract negotiations.
  • Experience in high-tech, ophthalmic, or innovative industries (e.g., optics, electronics, or advanced manufacturing), preferably worked at ZEISS Vision before.

Knowledge / Skills / Other characteristics:

  • Deep technical knowledge (especially in optics, electronics, or advanced manufacturing)
  • Technical account management.
  • Relationship/networking skills.
  • Cross-functional project management and stakeholder coordination.
  • Good VIS core product knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, demanding environments.
  • Work in an international environment with demanding customers.
  • Operate in a challenging and innovative business segment.
  • Strategic negotiation skills.
  • Business acumen.
  • Ideally familiar with relevant optical design tools (e.g. Insight, CODE V, or Zemax).
  • Business fluent in English and German.

Working conditions & Other Attributes:

  • Flexibility for regular international travel and cross-regional collaboration.

The annual pay range for this position is $110,000 - $137,500

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus
