HDR is looking for a Construction Services Business Class Lead to join our North Carolina Water Business Group in either our Charlotte, Raleigh or Winston-Salem office.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of progressive experience in the administration and oversight of construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of individual and a portfolio of construction projects of our growing municipal water business while coordinating and engaging directly with project, design, and client management teams working on the delivery of these projects. Construction projects could include water and wastewater treatment facilities and linear infrastructure projects.
  • Lead our Construction Services team, which includes Construction Services Project Managers, Resident Project Representatives and Administrative Support.
  • Must be comfortable in positions of authority, an effective communicator, self-starter, organized, detail oriented, problem solver and capable of working in a team environment.
  • Partner with our design teams and technical staff for the construction phase of projects to ensure the successful implementation of designs into installed infrastructure. This will include the coordination of submittal review, RFI response, change and field order documentation and issuance, resolution of construction claims, and day to day coordination with contractors on schedule and quality of work.
  • Maintain continuous contact with clients and contractors regarding ongoing construction projects.
  • May require occasional field construction inspection and frequent on-site visits to active construction sites.
  • This position is subject to a preemployment drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience managing a team
  • 15 years of experience in construction related field
  • Experience with construction management software packages and Microsoft Office Suite, Prolog, Primavera, and related programs is preferred
  • Excellent communication, leadership and planning skills, and ability to thrive in a team environment. Position requires very strong skills in working with contractors and administering the overall construction process
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Hands on experience working with construction documentation
  • Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years of experience
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
