• This role is responsible for writing well-organized, engaging, and persuasive copy for various packaging designs and internal communication to associates in support of business objectives that raise brand awareness and drive sales. This position ensures all copy adheres to and enhances the established Petco brand voice and is regulatory compliant.
  It's essential that this role understands the lines of business assigned, and the different types of copywriting required across disciplines including: Packaging, online product communication, brand awareness vehicles to the customer and associates. This role is expected to perform many support tasks related to project, private brand, product, and competitive research.

• Essential Job Functions

  • Develop new and unique creative and informational copy for products, both independently, and in support of the Communications Manager.

  • Support and lead copy projects as assigned through the process proactively, ensuring that deliverables and deadlines are met and projects driven to completion

  • Track down, investigate, organize, and disseminate product copy for customer services needs.

  • Proofread and edit their own work and the work of other writers.

  • Support and lead copy and copy/art projects as assigned and and make recommendations to the Communications Manager, Brand Manager and/or VP of Product Development based on creativity, strategic objectives, and copy that inspires a sense of urgency and desired behavior in the target; Ensure that. the work consistently proves to aid sales and improve product understanding (or any other assigned business objectives).

  • Continually demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with Product Development, Merchant teams, Customer Service, eCommerce and account service/client teams, and share in joint accountability for achieving business results.

  • Complete complex copy/research assignments and remain knowledgeable of consumer pet-related trends. At least twice a year, go out into the market in order to develop and then create trend reports.

  • Ensure the company continually follows all legal and regulatory requirements, while staying consistent with brand identity and voice.

  Education and Experience

  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Marketing, Mass Communications or a related field is preferred. 2-5 years of related experience preferably in a high-volume company required.

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.

Salary Range: $31.73 - $47.60
